Rural Immersion of 2016-18 batch

Students studying in the second year of Pgdm program at Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies, went for their Rural Immersion, this year to Anand, Gujarat. The immersion was conducted in two groups – first group from 5th November 2017 to 10th November 2017, and the second group from 12th November 2017 to 17th November 2017.

 

The study tour consisted of visits to the Amul Factory, SEWA – an NGO, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) complex, Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA), as well as establishments in adjacent villages such at SEWA activities at Sihol and Peej villages, solar power co-operative project at Dhundi village, large scale bio-gas manufacturing at Sundalpura, progressive farming at Boriya village and tobacco co-operative and farming at Gambhira village with other nearby places.

 

Students got an opportunity to interact with the rural people, there by exposing them to rural lifestyle, values, society, institutions, economy and markets. Students also understood social sensitivity through governmental schemes and an understanding of entrepreneurship, management and business developments, in the context of the Indian rural landscape.
