Rural Immersion of 2018-20 batch

In November 2018, DSIMS students of 2018 – 20 batch visited rural areas of Anand district of Gujarat. During the immersion, the students observed how milk collected by farmer co-operatives in rural areas of Anand district, is brought to Amul factory in Anand city and converted into butter and milk-powder.They also observed how yarn (threads) are woven by hand into fabrics, towels, dupattas, sarees and bed-sheets.

 

They also visited a mega-size tobacco co-operative in Gambhira village. This co-operative is operating successfully for six decades.

 

They also saw organic farming of bananas and potatoes in Boriya village. The high-quality bananas are exported to Middle-east.

 

They also got an opportunity to visit campuses of National Dairy Development Board and Institute of Rural Management (IRMA). NDDB has been pivotal in development of dairy sector of our country. IRMA is one of our country’s best b-schools for education in rural-management.

 

The students returned to Mumbai, with unique memories about life and economy in villages of our country.
