International Conference On Outsourcing Strategy- A New Paradigm

Outsourcing and off shoring are viable options for many organizations looking to grow their operations and networks, however, there are many aspects to consider in determining whether to take the advantage of outsourcing and safeguarding the company%u2019s interest.. The main motive behind outsourcing is that it allows a company to invest more resources in core activities by outsourcing non-core activities to gain financial and strategic advantages. Keeping in view the significance of the subject an International Conference on the theme of %u2018Outsourcing Strategy %u2013 A New Paradigm%u2019 under the aegis of Remsons Centre for Management Research was organised by Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies (DSIMS), Mumbai , on 14th March, 2015 at the Institute premises.

This conference was attended by academicians, professionals, research scholars and policy makers. The conference was convened by Prof Dr Sharad Kumar (Chief Convenor) and Associate. Prof Dr Kiran Karande (Convenor).

The conference was inaugurated by Mr Prashant Saran, Member, SEBI. He threw light on the importance of Integrated Reporting Tool which captures all the different kinds of capital which balance sheet can%u2019t capture, but those have obvious implications on society and the efficiency of corporates. These capitals viz. are provided by external bodies but accessed by the corporates for their strategic advantages.

The next Speaker was Mr M.D Agrawal, Senior Consultant, TCS, discussed about the %u2018Skill Roadmap for Emerging ITES Outsourcing Industry%u2019. He has deliberated on the recent focus of Government of India on Skill Development to make the vision of %u2018Make in India%u2019 a reality.

Another key Speaker Mr Raj Thaker, an IT Entrepreneur, deliberated on %u2018Outsourcing- Turning World into a Global village%u2019. He had shared his long journey as an Entrepreneur and IT solution provider.

Total eight research papers were presented in the conference on the stated theme based on different functional areas of Management & Economics. Besides, two good papers were received which were accepted but the authors could not attend the conference. These papers have been selected to be published in the conference proceedings.

Professor Ravindra Dey%u2019s article on “Comparing Line and Hr Managers Perceptions of Human Resource Outsourcing” introduces the importance of outsourcing solutions that combines global sourcing and delivery capabilities to offer flexible and cost-efficient services.

The work by Mr. Kishore Manelkar “Outsourcing %u2013 Strategic Staffing In The It Industry” is based on Strategic Staffing Mix (SSM) Modeling for IT industries to arrive at best possible hiring strategies ensuring lowering of risks, flexibility and scalability in the system.
