Foundation Day 2019

On 31st August’19, Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies (DSIMS) celebrated its 10th Foundation Day and Academic Inauguration. The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Harish Mehta, the founder and executive chairman of Onward Technology limited.

The program began with the national anthem followed by the DSIMS anthem. The lighting of lamp was conducted by the chief guest Dr. Harish Mehta, along with the dignitaries – Shri. Ashok M. Saraf, Dr. C. Babu and Dr. N.M. Kondap for inaugurating the event which was accompanied by Dr. Sanchita Banerji while the Saraswati Vandana was being played.

Dr. N.M. Kondap, Director General of DSIMS, Former Vice chancellor at SVKM’s NMIMS, Mumbai and Chairman of Western Regional Committee of AICTE, in his welcome speech, apprised the audience about the mission and vision of the institute. He also spoke about the journey of DSIMS, from its inception to the present date.

Further, Shri. Ashok Saraf, President of Rajasthani Sammelan Education Trust (RSET) and the Managing Director of Sarex Group of Companies, spoke about how important is the role of parents, teachers and hard work in every student’s life in order to achieve success.

Dr. C. Babu, Director, DSIMS, having several years of experience in the industry and academics further shared his insights and addressed the Chief Guest Dr. Harish Mehta who plays an important role in the Indian IT industry.

Dr. Harish Mehta, spoke on how digital regulations can have a major impact on the fast growing IT industry in India. He said, “Digitalization policies are based upon four pillars – financial stability, financial integrity, consumer protection and financial inclusion.” He further added, “But now there is a fifth pillar – innovation and competition.” He emphasized on how the technologies are constantly developing and in coming years it will solve current issues like poverty, unemployment, diseases and other socio-economic issues.

Dr. Sharad Kumar, Dean Academics and Research, DSIMS unveiled the In House Research Journal – The Management Quest Volume-2 Special Issue-1 titled – “Digital Transformation of Business.” He spoke about importance of research in today’s world and how well do the faculties of DSIMS write national as well as international research papers.

The event was then continued by acknowledging and appreciating the efforts made by students, both alumni as well as current batch students. The students who had made immense contributions beyond academics are:

Best Active Alumnus of the year – Mr. Akshay Shetty (Batch 2016-18)

Best Placement Coordinator of the year – Ms. Sakshi Poddar (Batch 2017-19)

Best Coordinator of the Institute Activities – Ms. Hasti More (Batch 2017-19)

Best Sportsperson of the year – Mr. Lokesh Raghuram (Batch 2017-19)

Best Student of the year for the current year – Mr. Neel Lad (2018-20)

Shri Mahavir Prasad Medal for excellence and Ghyanshamdas Medal for excellence were given to MMS and PGDM first year students of batch 2018-20 who ranked 1st in academics, namely, Ms. Charvi Shukla from FYMMS and Mr. Pratik Vaidya from FYPGDM.

Dr. Sarita Vichore, Associate Dean, DSIMS, proposed the vote of thanks expressing immense gratitude towards the Chief Guest, office bearers, faculties and the student volunteers.
